Collective Bargaining Rights for Faculty

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/429/615/normal/uamheader.png</thumbnail_url>

For far too long, faculty at Maryland's public universities have been left behind when it comes to collective bargaining rights. Almost every other public and state employee in the state of Maryland has the right to form a union, as do faculty at the peer institutions of UMS, yet year after year our legislator has failed to pass legislation that would afford the same rights to our higher educators. Non-tenure-track faculty face increasing workloads, stagnating pay, attacks on academic freedom, and tenuous job security in system that consistently erodes faculty voice, rendering shared governance meaningless. Join us in telling Senate President Bill Ferguson and your representatives that it is past time to permit contingent and adjunct faculty at Maryland's' four year public universities the right to collectively bargain their terms and conditions of work into a union contract.
