CORE Spaces Whistleblowers

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

CORE Spaces is a Chicago-based developer currently planning and building multiple projects in Ann Arbor. As part of an ongoing campaign to uncover abuses in the construction industry, the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Washtenaw County Commissioner Yusef Rabhi toured CORE’s construction site at 333 Williams St. on October 13th, 2025, to document conditions. During their visit, they witnessed safety violations, including a wide-open site, materials staged in the public right-of-way, trip hazards, unusable handrails, and inadequate dust control. Workers interviewed on the site were all misclassified as 1099 independent contractors, depriving them of important protections such as unemployment and workers' compensation insurance. Workers regularly worked 12-hour days with no overtime, and others received cash payments funnelled through a labor broker. Labor brokers are notorious in the construction industry for facilitating wage theft and fueling exploitation. CORE should be accountable to Ann Arbor's community standards. Send their whistleblower inbox a message today, letting them know they are falling short.
