Demand Accountability for the Iranian School Strike

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

A U.S. strike campaign in southern Iran killed more than 150 people when a bomb hit a girls’ school in the city of Minab. Most of the victims were children and teachers. Trump’s own Pentagon has admitted U.S. forces were responsible for the strike. But the public still has no clear explanation for how a school became a target. Reports indicate the strike may have been based on outdated intelligence identifying the location as a former military site. At the same time, the U.S. military has been deploying new AI-assisted targeting tools during the Iran campaign, including Palantir’s Maven system and Anthropic’s Claude AI to help analyze intelligence and generate potential strike targets. These technologies dramatically speed up the process of identifying targets. That speed may also increase the risk of catastrophic mistakes when data is incomplete or outdated. More than 150 people are dead. Families have been destroyed. Yet no independent investigation has been launched. Congress has the authority to uncover exactly what happened and why this strike was approved. Lawmakers must open a formal investigation, hold public hearings with Pentagon and intelligence officials, and use their subpoena power to obtain the targeting data, internal communications, and intelligence assessments behind the decision. The public deserves to know who approved this strike, what information they relied on, and whether critical warnings about civilian risk were ignored. If failures in intelligence, policy, or technology played a role, Congress must expose them and ensure real accountability. Click START WRITING to send a direct message demanding Congress investigate the Minab school strike, subpoena the records, hold hearings, and hold those responsible accountable.
