Across the country, private equity firms and large institutional investors are buying up manufactured homes and manufactured home communities, raising rents, cutting services, and pushing people out of homes they already own. Families and seniors who thought they had found stability are now being squeezed by billion-dollar corporations. This has to stop. Last week, President Trump signed an Executive Order to limit Wall Street investors in the single-family housing market. Manufactured housing has been left out — even though residents are being hit just as hard. People who live in manufactured homes deserve protection. No one should lose their home because a hedge fund decided their community was a new “asset class.” If President Trump says he wants to lower housing costs, then he needs to act here too. Not later.
