Don't Reauthorize Broken Rent Control

Council Chairman Mendelson has put rent control reauthorization in the Budget Support Act. That means reauthorizing the status quo of unaffordable rent increases and displacement via loopholes in the current rent control law. DC should not be reauthorizing a broken system. DC is on the edge of an eviction cliff with tenants unable to pay their rent due to years of unsustainable rent increases and the current emergency. The Council needs to strengthen and expand rent control NOW! Let Chairman Mendelson and the Council know that rent control reauthorization does not belong in the BSA.
