Dump Duke: Contact City Officials for Public Power

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

We must call on St. Petersburg Mayor and City Council to cut ties with Duke Energy and create a public power utility. Duke Energy is charging us some of the highest rates for electricity in the state and their contract with the city of St. Petersburg finally expires in 2026. We are urging the City of St. Petersburg to: 1.) Commission and fund a feasibility study by the end of 2025 to examine costs, viability, and renewable energy alternatives for our power supply. 2.) Begin negotiations with Duke Energy to buy out our fixed capital, and to ‘stop the clock’ on our current agreement.
