Non-Stop Coverage of the Republican Convention This Week. Demand Networks Devote Equal Time to Exposing Project 2025

Political violence -- violence of any kind -- is not acceptable. Ever. There is never a valid reason to use force in politics. Our country's system was set up to create peaceful elections and transfers of power. The foundation of legitimate and positive government is collaboration and respect for differences. We must trust in our fellow Americans and in our democracy. With each day it becomes more clear that many Trump Republicans don’t agree with this vision of who we are and the America we believe in. To motivate their movement they espouse dangerous rhetoric like calling for “retribution” and “revenge,” refer to their opposition as “vermin” that “poisons the blood of our country,” shoplifters should be shot, and leaders they disagree with should be executed. They use the imagery of “bloodbaths” and “American carnage.” Violent rhetoric, policies, and imagery begets violence. This is why it’s not good enough to just call out the rhetoric. We must expose the policy too. And that requires coverage of Project 2025 -- a massive 900+ page manifesto that lays bare their plan to transform America into an authoritarian state if Trump regains power. This isn't speculation. It's meticulously detailed, crafted by Trump's inner circle, and embraced by his MAGA movement. Project 2025 outlines a sweeping agenda to dismantle our democratic institutions and reshape America in their extremist image. They want to turn neighbor against neighbor and divide us by race, religion, and sexual orientation. They want to silence dissent, crush independent institutions, and concentrate power in the hands of a few loyal to Trump. It goes after immigrants, ending birthright citizenship and reinstating Trump’s child separation policies that resulted in locking kids in cages. It plans massive detention camps and military raids in American cities to deport up to 5 million immigrants in the first four years. It has three different ways to ban abortion nationwide -- FDA decertification of medication abortion drugs, enforcement of the Comstock Act to ban the mailing of drugs or medical instruments used for abortion, and a total nationwide ban passed by Congress. It takes only one of these tactics to succeed to effectively ban abortion nationwide even in a safe-access state like Vermont. The reality is there is too much to list at once, but if covered correctly by the media, their plan can backfire. Their goals are not popular. Real reporting on Project 2025 requires multiple segments and articles to deliver the full picture to the American public. Right now every news network is covering the Republican National Convention non-stop, as well as breathless coverage of Trump’s extremist pick for VP. And the Republican Party has already begun trying to whitewash and cover up their unpopular positions, playing down their anti-LGBTQ+ policies and anti-abortion plans. The American media has a responsibility to balance out Trump and his campaign’s spin, lies, and gaslighting with the truth. Please take a moment to sign and send your message to the CEOs of media networks, including ABC, NBC, and CBS, and demand they give equal time to coverage of Project 2025 now.
