Their designs include caricatures of alligators wearing ICE gear, images of alligators and the American flag, and vacation-themed Florida Everglades t-shirts -- all while hundreds of people are being denied legal representation, medical care, and food. It’s not funny or clever. To glorify this inhumane treatment of our immigrant relatives with t-shirts, buttons, stickers, and more is an affront to not only the Constitution, but to human decency. Built just 1,100 feet from a traditional Miccosukee village and within three miles of 11 Miccosukee and Seminole villages and ceremonial grounds, Alligator Alcatraz violates civil rights, human rights, rights to due process, environmental laws, and Tribal sovereignty.
