Write to FCC about inquiry of WBAI and Pacifica

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

For years, the Pacifica National Board ignored requests from members to clean up violations at Pacifica's New York City Station WBAI, the continuation of which threatens all Pacifica stations. Finally, PSN filed a petition with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) back in 2022 asking them to address allegations of fundraising violations, fiscal irregularities, and outrageous programs at WBAI. Even after a drastic decline in listenership, the Pacifica National Board (PNB) did nothing to correct alleged abuses at WBAI. For details, and to send a letter asking the FCC to make sure this is cleaned up, see https://actionnetwork.org/letters/fcc-letter Rather than correcting the violations, the Pacifica National Board went after the whistleblowers and refused to require that any corrective action be taken at WBAI. The PNB's failure to take any corrective action has put Pacifica stations at risk of legal action and substantial fines - that could have been prevented by insisting that WBAI comply with the law and FCC regulations, instead of pretending that the problems were not occurring. Recently the FCC directed Pacifica to provide a broad range of documents in this case, under penalty of perjury. But we do not know whether the PNB will continue to ignore the alleged violations at WBAI, or whether they will support and demand that the these serious problems be investigated and ended. What we ask that you do: It's easy - we're making it simple for you - but do it today. Please go to https://actionnetwork.org/letters/fcc-letter and email the FCC, using your own words, and demand: * a thorough independent investigation of these ongoing practices at WBAI and Pacifica * that management take immediate action to comply with all FCC and IRS regulations * that any individuals financially benefiting from and supporting these practices should no longer be in a position to continue with Pacifica, and * that any individuals who have benefited monetarily should be held legally responsible and financially accountable for any fines levied by the FCC We'll then send your letter for you to the FCC. Thanks for helping to clean up Pacifica and helping to protect your station!
