Fund Schools, Not ICE: Submit a Letter to the Editor

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Congress continues to pour billions of dollars into ICE, an agency created just 20 years ago that has built a record of masked raids, deaths in custody, falsified medical records, and home entries carried out without judicial warrants. At the same time, public schools across the country are underfunded and stretched thin. This is a choice. School districts are being forced to cut counselors, support staff, after-school programs, and classroom resources. Rural schools, Tribal schools, and high-poverty districts struggle to maintain basic services. Parents and educators are asked to do more with less every year. ICE operations have destabilized neighborhoods, conducted street seizures in plainclothes, and detained people in facilities where independent reviews have documented ignored medical emergencies and widespread documentation failures. Internal guidance has allowed forced home entry using internal paperwork instead of court-approved warrants, raising serious constitutional concerns. Budgets reflect values. Funding paramilitary squads instead of classrooms sends a clear message about whose futures matter. We have already contacted members of Congress, Attorneys General, and state lawmakers. Now it is time to bring this demand to the public conversation. Submit a letter to the editor of your state’s largest newspaper and demand zero dollars for ICE and full funding for public schools. We’ve provided a draft, which you can send as-is or personalize and submit. Click “Start Writing” to get started now.
