Hold Congress Accountable for their Wall Street Giveaway (H.R. 10)

This week, the House of Representatives passed a very dangerous bill that guts the crucial reforms passed in the wake of the financial crisis: H.R. 10, the Financial CHOICE Act. It passed the House on almost complete party lines, with 233 Republicans voting YES, 185 Democracts voting NO, and a lone Republican (Walter Jones of North Carolina) joining them. This legislation is crammed with deregulatory gifts to every kind of financial institution, including giant mega-banks who want to return to the excessive borrowing and risky practices that led to the financial crisis. It also provides “gimmies” to private equity funds who want to manipulate the financial system and exploit investors, mortgage lenders who want to get out of the rules put in place to stop the kinds of unaffordable loans that were at the heart of the financial crisis, and payday and car title lenders pushing triple digit interest rate products that trap people in a cycle of ever-increasing debt. Click the "Start Writing" button to find out how your Member of Congress voted on the Wrong CHOICE Act. PLEASE NOTE: This will generate a default email to your Representative. We ask for your address to determine who your member of Congress is. Some Representatives require more information -- some may ask for a phone number, the topic of the email (we suggest choosing "Economy"), and some may even ask you to fill out a CAPTCHA. Please be aware this is a requirement from your Representative, and NOT from Americans for Financial Reform.
