Honduras Strike Solidarity

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

The 1,100 Honduran construction workers building the new U.S. Embassy complex in Tegucigalpa have been on strike for over 4 months, demanding that the State Department and its Birmingham-based contractor BL Harbert respect their human rights and Honduran labor law. Rather than simply follow Honduran law to provide their workers healthcare and job security, compensate them fairly, and ensure safe working conditions, the Embassy has responded with intimidation, retaliatory firings of the movement leadership, and militarization (complete with riot police, tanks and sharpshooters). Help us work for solidarity with striking Honduran workers by contacting State Department staff, BL Harbert employees, and your US congresspeople to insist that they immediately intervene and guarantee fair employment for the Honduran workers, the immediate end of retaliatory termination, and the rehiring of workers fired for organizing for better conditions.
