In order to improve access, Michigan needs to pass legislation that protects prospective renters by enacting legislation statewide that would protect them from being denied housing based on their: Source of Income Prior arrests or conviction Credit score Prior eviction due to fleeing domestic violence Additionally, Michigan should develop a system to provide for a tenants right to counsel, and enact legislation enshrining a tenant's bill of rights and a homeless bill of rights. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/housing-equity
