Many of the workers have been there for years and decades, putting in long hours to feed the whole country, only to find themselves kicked to the curb with a tiny severance. Tyson Foods reported a third-quarter profit of $182 million, and it has received millions in tax credits from the people of Illinois. Now, the plant’s closure is expected to cost the Quad Cities area $116 million in lost wages. I am outraged by these 2,500 layoffs and the company's greed. I support the call of the workers for Gov. J.B. Pritzker to invoke eminent domain to keep the factory open and the jobs in Joslin.
