At the same time, the Trump administration is attacking civil liberties, free speech, and democracy in the name of fighting antisemitism. Here in Massachusetts, the Special Commission on Combatting Antisemitism is responsible for offering a proposal to the legislature to address antisemitism in the commonwealth. However, since it began convening several months ago, the Commission has thus far failed to accurately reflect the diversity--in identity and political opinion--of the Massachusetts' Jewish community, at times commissioners have conflated criticism of Israel with antisemitism. In a moment when students who criticize Israel are being abducted from our cities, we must recognize that fighting antisemitism does not come from suppressing free speech, but rather is inextricably linked to fighting all forms of oppression: racism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, ableism, homophobia, transphobia and others. https://actionnetwork.org/letters/letter-to-ma-legislature-on-addressing-antisemitism
