Letter to the Trustees of Dartmouth College

Dartmouth Community members have spoken. Thousands of students, faculty, and alumni have called on Dartmouth College President Sian Beilock to join the coalition of leaders in higher education working to protect academic freedom from White House overreach. But President Beilock has refused to change course. The Charter of the Board of Trustees of Dartmouth College confers the power of oversight to the elected alumni and selected charter members of that body. If President Beilock won’t listen to the members of the Dartmouth Community, then the Board of Trustees must take action to protect Dartmouth and fulfill the College’s mission. As the president and president-elect of the Alumni Council recently wrote: “Alumni demand that Dartmouth not only safeguard itself but stand visibly and proudly with the broader academic community under attack. Historically, Dartmouth has always been at the forefront of such efforts – and many believe now is the time to reaffirm that legacy.” Please take this opportunity to send a note to the Dartmouth Trustees with your thoughts. The more personal and specific the better. We have provided a template letter, but its better if you write your own with your own story. Thank you for taking the time - if you can, please consider posting this link on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or anywhere where your classmates might see and also take action to ensure alumni voices are heard. Thank you!
