That promise is now broken. The FDA, under pressure from Donald Trump and RFK Jr., just overhauled its guidance to deny vaccines to most adults under 65. Even children at high risk because of immune deficiencies must now fight through red tape to get vaccinated. This is reckless. It puts politics over science, and it will cost lives. Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, infectious disease expert at UC San Francisco, called the new policy “completely wrong” and a dangerous “barrier” to care. The Infectious Diseases Society of America called it “a dangerous rollback” that increases the risk of severe illness and long COVID. Public health leaders have made it clear that this decision undermines science-driven policy and strips away equal protection from COVID. Leaving millions of Americans unprotected will only fuel new outbreaks, put families in danger, and force parents to beg for permission to keep their children safe.
