Maryland Higher Education Staff Deserve Hazard Pay

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/178/242/normal/AFSMC_Council_3_Higher_Education_Join_the_Fight_for_Hazard_Pay.png</thumbnail_url>

AFSCME Maryland, Council 3, is the union for state and university workers. We represent the more than 6,000 hard-working higher education staff who keep our public universities running. Throughout the pandemic, frontline workers have risked their own health and safety to ensure campus operations could continue. Unlike other state employees in Maryland, staff in higher education have been excluded from response pay for reporting despite the risk of exposure to COVID-19. We urge USM Chancellor Jay Perman and Governor Larry Hogan to expand COVID-19 Response Pay to all public university employees who must report to campus. Exposure to COVID-19 is too great a risk to be uncompensated and unrecognized in Maryland. Take action and send a letter to decision-makers urging them to expand the COVID-19 Response Pay!
