Demonstrated corruption on the part of the prosecutor influenced the outcome of Dewitt McDonald’s trial and contributes to his continued incarceration. Dewitt McDonald, Jr. has never wavered in maintaining his innocence and remains incarcerated. Despite the lack of evidence, Dewitt McDonald, Jr. was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison, meaning he should have been eligible for parole in 2015. He has never had a parole hearing. In March 2022, a judge granted habeas corpus, ruling that Dewitt McDonald, Jr. should have had a parole hearing in 2015 and as such ordering his immediate release. The Ohio Attorney General stepped in and filed an emergency stay order to halt the release for a 1994 murder in which no physical evidence or reliable testimony connects Dewitt McDonald, Jr. Miles For Justice</description>
