No Votes For Genocide in Connecticut!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

PLEASE ONLY FILL OUT IF YOU ARE A CONNECTICUT RESIDENT ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE 2024 ELECTION Israel is carrying out a genocide in Palestine that has killed tens of thousands of innocent civilians. The Israeli army has been brutal in their assault, repeatedly bombing designated safe zones and civilian areas like refugee camps, hospitals, and schools. Some estimates place the death toll at 186,000 given how many bodies have yet to be recovered, and how many civilians will be impacted by starvation and disease. Around 1.1 million people, half of Gaza’s population faces severe food insecurity. Around 85% of Gaza’s population has been displaced, many multiple times. Due to the complete collapse of health infrastructure, diseases like polio and Hepatitis are now rampant in Gaza. The Israeli genocide has created over 85,000 amputees, caused over 19,000 children to become orphans, and has left hundreds of thousands of injured Palestinians without access to basic care, many having to undergo surgery without anesthesia. This destruction and slaughter of civilians is funded by the United States and championed by US politicians. Connecticut residents are sick of having their tax dollars and congressional representation support the oppression of the Palestinian people. By signing this petition, Connecticut voters certify they will not vote for presidential or congressional candidates who do not 1) support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza in which Israel is mandated to completely stop its assault on Palestinians, and 2) support an arms embargo and an end to all aid and weapons packages to Israel, currently in violation of international law. No presidential candidate from either major party, nor any current CT congressperson has acknowledged the genocide of Palestinians or voiced support for any of these demands. Kamala Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, continues to support aid to the Israel and refuses to acknowledge this genocide. Signers of this petition are refusing to vote for any presidential candidate who does not meet these demands. Senator Chris Murphy, Representative John Larson, Representative Joe Courtney, Representative Rosa DeLauro, Representative Jim Himes, and Representative Jahana Hayes are all up for reelection. Signers of this petition are refusing to vote for any incumbent who does not meet these demands. It is on our elected officials to decide whether they want to stand victorious on the right side of history against this genocide, or lose the upcoming election due to their own moral bankruptcy. Please sign and share with other CT residents!
