People Over Long Lines Act

	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/281/634/normal/Untitled_design_(34).png</thumbnail_url>

The right to vote is foundational in our democracy. Inordinately long lines at polling sites interfere with this right and actively discourage voters from attempting to cast their ballot. To maintain fair and efficient elections, we must minimize voter wait time. The People over Long Lines (POLL) Act focuses on alleviating the burden placed on millions of voters during federal elections. It declares that waiting periods at polling locations must not exceed 30 minutes and distributes voting systems and other election resources to sites depending on voter demand; in many Southern states voting machines are distributed based on income (the higher the income the more machines to avoid making the wealthy wait). Finally, they also set standards for financial compensation for excessive wait times. Unreasonable wait times discourage voters! Contact your member of Congress today and alert them about the People over Long Lines (POLL) Act!
