They are now in their third week of strike action because their employer Pilgrim's is refusing to give them a pay offer to pull them out of poverty pay. Pilgrim's make huge profits providing food to various retailers including Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys and others. But it's profits over people for them. Their workers earn barely over minimum wage but Pilgrim's profits increased by over 21% in 2024. They are also demanding an end to the inequality around paid breaks. Day shift workers are only paid for 15-minute breaks while other workers are paid for 30 minutes.
