Protect 350,000 Haitian Refugees!

After months of organizing and nearly 50,000 messages sent, Rep. Ayanna Pressley's discharge petition to extend Haitian Temporary Protected Status reached 218 signatures, including four Republicans. Now Rep. Pressley is forcing a vote on H.R. 1689 this Wednesday, bypassing House leadership entirely. 350,000 Haitian TPS holders are members of our communities – parents, workers, caregivers, and neighbors who have built their lives here – many for more than twenty years. They need legal protection here as Haiti has faced earthquakes, political collapse, and a humanitarian crisis so severe the U.S. government warns its own citizens not to travel there. If TPS is stripped away, they lose their work authorization, their right to stay, and their protection from an ICE deportation regime that moves fast and shows no mercy. H.R. 1689 would extend those protections through April 2029. The discharge petition proved that sustained organizing moves the unmovable. Now we need to carry that pressure through to the vote. Write to your member of Congress right now and demand they vote yes before Wednesday >>
