In the early hours of November 8th, tragedy struck when four lives were claimed and 11 victims were injured after a reckless driver lost control of his vehicle in Ybor City during a police pursuit and crashed into the sidewalk and patio of Bradley’s on 7th. This area is known to locals as a vibrant center where culture, arts, and community converge; it is also a place with heavy pedestrian foot traffic, especially during weekend evening hours. Concerns about pedestrian safety and the engagement of a high-speed pursuit in a heavily populated area by Florida Highway Patrol (Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, 2025) continue to emerge from concerned citizens. Now is the time to have our voices heard by Tampa City Council Members. We demand action on pedestrian safety, not hollow thoughts and prayers.
