Protect Jewish University Employees from Federal Targeting

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

A federal judge has ordered the University of Pennsylvania to turn over records identifying Jewish employees to the Trump administration after UPenn rightfully sued asking the court to block the demand. Fortunately, UPenn is not backing down and is appealing the ruling. Forcing a university to identify employees based on religion and turn that information over to the federal government is frightening. The Trump administration's demand is supposedly in an attempt to combat antisemitism, yet the very concept of creating a list like this is antisemitic. History shows the well-documented dangers of compiling lists of Jewish people, including physical harassment, loyalty investigations and blacklists. If the administration wins, this demand will not stay contained to one campus. Once a demand like this is enforced, it establishes a framework that can be applied elsewhere, across universities, workplaces, and institutions nationwide. What begins as a single request tied to one investigation quickly becomes something broader, with more names collected, more lists created, and more people exposed. That is why it must be challenged at scale and every major university must step up and stand with UPenn. Click “START WRITING” to send a direct message urging university presidents to stand with UPenn, join the lawsuit, and refuse any federal demand that requires identifying employees by religion.
