We declare: NOT IN OUR NAME. On Father's Day, families gathered outside ICE's Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, and tied neckties to the fence -- one for every father caged inside. Their children brought crayon drawings for dads they are not allowed to hug or hand their drawings to. Visiting Delaney Hall, Ms. Rachel -- the children's teacher trusted in millions of homes -- sat with these families and asked: "Why are we terrorizing children?" That is the question this nation cannot answer. It's a pattern of systemic abuse that follows GEO Group across state lines nationwide. This abuse is paid for with our tax dollars, under contracts that can be inspected, conditioned, and cut off. As people of faith, we believe in the God who says: speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. We believe in the Jesus who said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them." We condemn the abuse of every child and every parent GEO Group detains without accountability. As Christians, we call out the Trump-backed GEO Group for what it is: for-profit concentration camps that cage children against everything the Gospel stands for. We demand that those who hold the power of oversight and the power of the purse use it -- to open these gates to inspectors, to cut off the dollars funding this cruelty, and to end the abuse of every child in U.S. detention.
