Bondi has charged him with wildly spurious conspiracy charges.1 Days later, Trump threatened to sue Trevor Noah for a joke he made at the Grammys about Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.2 Trump’s FBI also aggressively raided the home of a Washington Post journalist and seized her devices in what could be an illegal attempt to intimidate the reporter and gain access to her confidential sources.3 Congress needs to take a stand for the Constitution and stop Trump from trampling over our right to free speech. Trump has thrown the First Amendment out the window to go after Lemon, Noah, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, PBS, NPR, ABC, CBS, and others. While the Trump administration lies about the arrest of Lemon and the aggressive raid on the Washington Post reporter’s home, the facts suggest a far more disturbing motive: the weaponization of law enforcement to punish media figures for exercising their First Amendment rights.4 Congress must launch a full investigation into the FBI’s raid to expose the truth and determine if the Trump administration broke the law.
