<title>Raise your voice - Save Our Public Transport Services </title>
	<thumbnail_url>https://can2-prod.s3.amazonaws.com/letters/photos/000/454/957/normal/stop_the_Translink_cuts.png</thumbnail_url>
<description>Make your submission today! Northern Ireland’s public transport provider, Translink, is consulting on plans to slash evening services and hike fares for young people, families and off peak travellers. These cuts are not necessary – they are the direct result of chronic underfunding by the Northern Ireland Executive. Without a loud public response, the worst hit will be shift workers, women, older people, disabled passengers, students and low income families who depend on affordable, safe public transport every day. The trade unions representing bus and rail workers in Northern Ireland – Unite, GMB, TSSA and SIPTU – are campaigning to stop the cuts and secure the long term funding our public transport deserves. We need your help. The official consultation is live, and every submission counts. Translink must hear from the people and the communities these cuts will damage. Why your voice matters The proposals would end all bus and rail services after 10pm from Monday to Wednesday, slash the youth discount from 50% to 33%, remove off peak fares entirely, and raise prices for family and day out tickets. Over 70,000 evening rail journeys a year will be lost. Late night workers, hospital visitors, students and night-time economy staff will be left stranded. Northern Ireland already spends just £44.50 per person on public transport – less than half the figure in the Republic of Ireland, Scotland or Wales. Service cuts are a political choice, not an inevitability. The more people who submit objections, the harder it becomes to ignore the real equality and environmental harm of these plans. Let’s flood the consultation. How to make your submission XXX standard text how to make submit XXX We need to include a line or something saying that ‘when you make this submission we will offer you the option of sending a copy to the infrastructure minister, the members of the assembly infrastructure committee and your local mlas. If you want to opt out of this just remove the options before sending.’ Make your submission - then share – please don’t keep it to yourself! A single submission is powerful – hundreds or thousands are impossible to ignore. Right now, take a moment to: Share this page with family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues. WhatsApp groups, community Facebook pages and whatever social media you use are perfect. Ask one person today to make a submission. A quick message – “I’ve just done this, it took two minutes – will you do it too? Talk about it at work or at your union branch. Print the link and stick it in the canteen, depot, shop or break room. Post on social media using the hashtag #FundPublicTransport and tag your local MLA, calling on them to stand up for bus and rail services and the travelling public. Public transport belongs to all of us. Let’s make sure Translink and Stormont hear that loud and clear. Thank you for standing with the workforce and with every passenger who relies on these lifeline services. Campaign supported by Unite the Union, GMB, TSSA and SIPTU.</description>
