Red Book craftworkers fight for fair pay

More than 1,000 local government craftworkers are standing together to fight for fair pay and to defend their terms and conditions and they need your support. These skilled workers carry out vital council housing repairs and maintenance, keeping homes safe for communities across the country. They are employed by Bristol, Southwark, Stoke-on-Trent, Newham, Leeds, and Babergh and Mid Suffolk councils, with more local authorities expected to join the dispute in the future. They have rejected the 2025 local government pay offer of a 3.2% increase, which barely scrapes the surface after a decade of below inflation pay rises and pay freezes. It was also imposed without any negotiations. They continue strike action next week and are holding a demonstration outside the Local Government Association National Conference on 8 July in Bournemouth. Letting their employer know, they deserve better. As these workers stand together for the pay and respect they deserve, they need supporters like you to stand with them. Please email the key members of the Local Government Association's negotiating team and urge them to meet with Unite and sister unions to negotiate a fair resolution to this dispute. Every email helps increase the pressure. Will you send yours today?
