The sanctioning of Israeli teams is a real opportunity to help isolate Israel internationally for genocidal acts, including its killing of civilians and footballers, and could help build peace in Palestine. Similar sports sanctions helped to end South African Apartheid. FIFA Council Members must call for the IMMEDIATE suspension of Israeli teams and act in accordance with FIFA Statutes and Olympic Charter. It is a chance to stand in solidarity with Palestinians, including their own colleagues at the Palestine Football Association, and at least 186,000 Palestinians who have been killed directly and indirectly by Israeli forces since October 2023, among them 240 footballers.
