Coming into the New Year the House and Senate are proposing to expand immigration detention. Currently the proposal on the table includes funding to detain an additional 50,000 people. Last year through the 2025 reconciliation bill, ICE was given $45 billion for the detention of hundreds of thousands of people. With this unprecedented funding, ICE and other government agencies have wreaked havoc across our country detaining individuals and locking them up in a deadly and inhumane system.
