Under current Louisiana law, pregnancies resulting from rape or other sexual offenses are not included among the statutory exceptions to the state’s abortion ban. Individuals who have experienced rape or sexual assault shouldn’t be forced to continue a pregnancy resulting from that violence. HB 261 by Representative Delisha Boyd would ensure that survivors of sexual violence can access abortion care and reclaim control over their life, body, and future.
