Save NCC, Stop the Cuts!

Nassau Community College is facing major issues: administrative policies like skeleton scheduling; early class cancellation; the abolishment of 15 academic departments; the failure to hire or replace full-time classroom faculty as well as non-classroom faculty in financial aid, advisement, and counseling; inadequate staffing of labs and help centers; zero budgeting for theater and dance performances for the Spring 2025 semester; lack of support for ESL, developmental education, the Honors program, and special needs students; the abandonment of cultural programming and support for student clubs; and the de facto takeover of the Faculty Student Association are examples of policies that are hurting all programs and student services. Meanwhile, the number of administrators has doubled to 62 in the past year, and chief administrative officer Maria Conzatti is paid more highly than any SUNY community college president. Nassau County deserves a community college that meets the needs of its students and Nassau County. It makes higher education affordable; its graduates drive local businesses, and their higher earnings raise the county and state tax base. Please do what you can to ensure that NCC has both needed state and county funding as well as stable, competent administration. Yours,
