The Liberal government is working with the Conservatives to pass legislation - Bill C-9 - that criminalizes protest with up to 10 years in prison if protestors are accused of having intent to "invoke fear" when protesting outside a long list of protected buildings. It also criminalizes symbols that could be seen to resemble symbols used by groups on Canada's politicized, secretive listing of terrorist entities. And now, Conservatives are looking to add an amendment which they have said they will use to further criminalize Palestine solidarity.
