Say NO to Heavier and Longer Trucks

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

I am reaching out to your office to ask for your opposition to heavier and longer trucks in Congress. Heavier and longer trucks not only represent a threat to aging roads and bridges, but they also mean that motorist safety is put into jeopardy. Why are elected officials pushing to allow something that is so clearly out of step with everyday citizens? The trucking industry is critical to our economy. Most people realize this. However, the idea that we should share the roads with trucks that weight more goes against common sense. Current semi-trucks operate at 80,000 pounds. That is heavy enough. Allowing these to run at 91,000 pounds, as some hope, is a disaster waiting to happen. Adding 5 ½ tons to a truck can turn any crash into a nightmare. No one ever drove by a truck and said, “I wish these trucks were bigger.” Please vote no on this bill. Thank you,
