This means the council now has the green light to rip up five acres of grass and trees and cover it with plastic turf and concrete. That's bad news for wildlife, bad news for the climate, and bad news for local residents who'd have to suffer more traffic, noise and toxic air pollution. But it's not too late to stop them. The project depends on funding from national bodies such as the Football Foundation and the FA.
