Submission to APVMA regarding review of SGARs

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Following years of repeated pushbacks and delays to a review on Second-Generation Anticoauglant Rodenticides (SGARs), the APVMA released its draft decision in December 2025. This decision is substandard, acknowledging the 54 research papers submitted by scientists but failing to recognise the detrimental affects these poisons are having on over 80 Australian species. The APVMAs proposition is the following: ban baits in powder/liquid form, make slight changes to instructions on labels, and place baits in "tamper-free" bait stations. See Birdlife Australia's scorecard as to why these changes will be ineffective. https://birdlife.org.au/rat-poison-regulation-review-scorecard/ The APVMA has a public consultation period extending to March 16th. We urge you to take the time to make a submission by following this website to send a letter to the APVMA. By putting pressure on these ministers, we can change the APVMA's decision, before they kill anymore of our precious wildlife.
