Prior to the pandemic, we provided excellent service, making our hotel a place that customers wanted to continuously come back to. Because of our loyalty and hard work, we have brought decades of economic gain to this hotel and its owners. Now, on the anniversary of Covid-19 shutdowns, our employer has decided to fire us beginning this week. We have called on the Sheraton Ottawa Hotel and its owner, Keck Seng Investments, to stop the termination of workers and extend our recall rights immediately, but so far, the hotel has refused. The majority of properties represented by Local 261 have already extended recall, giving workers a safe return to work when the pandemic ends. The Sheraton Ottawa is the only Local 261 employer that has decided to fire workers in the middle of the pandemic.
