The Pandora Bike Lanes are now a model for our region on how successful AAA bike infrastructure can be. This was the first project of its kind in the CRD and it has spawned a cycling bonanza over the last few years. We now have some of the highest rates of cycling in North America! However, the Pandora lanes come to an abrupt end at Cook St, leaving you with no direct options for continuing on to Shelbourne or Oak Bay. Victoria City Councilors are looking to close this critical gap in the AAA bike and roll network. They're proposing to extend the Pandora Bike Lanes east to Shelbourne via Begbie, along with a connector to Fort St via Oak Bay Avenue (Oak Bay Junction). Connecting Pandora to the Shelbourne AAA lanes creates a continuous protected route between UVic and downtown, along with providing another safe way to reach Fernwood & Oak Bay Junction.
