People around the country are being economically impacted by the global health crisis caused by the coronavirus ("COVID-19"). Millions of people have lost of wages due to illness, caring for family members or children at home due to school closures, or the loss of wages and jobs due to cancellations of large scale events, classes, conferences, etc. People economically impacted by the loss of income due to COVID-19 must be protected from displacement during this global health crisis. As public health officials recommend social isolation and to shelter-in-place, the loss of jobs and wages puts people in danger of not having a place to shelter in. Our demands: -An immediate moratorium on evictions and foreclosures in California for the duration of this global public health crisis. -Halt all Unlawful Detainer and Sheriff eviction orders actions across the State. -Any mortgage relief/deferment must include corresponding rent relief for tenants. -Suspend all utility shut-off and reinstate utilities for those who have already lost services. -End all homeless encampment sweeps and house people so they can safely shelter in place.
