Stop Congress from Overriding State Animal Welfare Laws

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Big Ag is trying to silence voters, crush state rights, and condemn millions of animals to a lifetime of cruelty. Congress is considering two dangerous bills—the Food Security and Farm Protection Act (S. 1326) and the Save Our Bacon Act (H.R. 4673)—that would wipe out state laws protecting farmed animals from the worst, most horrific abuses. If these bills pass, hard-won laws like California’s Proposition 12 and Massachusetts’ Question 3—approved by voters and upheld by the courts—would vanish. These laws guarantee that pigs, hens, and calves have enough room to move, lie down, and live with some dignity. Why should that be objectionable to anyone? Crucially, these bills also affirm the right of states to set humane standards for products sold within their borders. Corporate lobbyists, led by the National Pork Producers Council, want to overturn these reforms so they can keep animals in tiny cages and crates for their entire lives. They’re willing to strip states of their authority and ignore the will of the people to protect their profits. We cannot let them succeed in turning back the clock to enable cruelty. Please email your members of Congress today and demand they oppose S. 1326 and H.R. 4673—and any effort to undermine state animal welfare laws. Tell them to stand with voters, with states, and with the animals who cannot speak for themselves. This fight is about more than farm policy. It is about whether compassion, democracy, and basic decency will prevail over cruelty and raw corporate greed. Together, we can defend the rights of states and protect farmed animals from egregious abuses. Please email your members of Congress and tell them you expect them to oppose S. 1326 and H.R. 4673.
