Tell Big Pharma: Stop suing Medicare and negotiate drug prices!

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

It’s the most basic principle of medical ethics, going back to Hippocrates: Do No Harm. But this is apparently news to Big Pharma, including Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and the lobbying group PhRMA. Despite raking in $448 billion in profits over the last five years, they are filing multiple lawsuits trying to prevent Medicare from negotiating drug prices under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. Big Pharma has raked in record breaking profits while seniors and people with disabilities struggle to afford their medication. And yet, they still want more. For so many seniors and people with disabilities, enabling Medicare to negotiate for lower drug prices will create much needed breathing room. But Big Pharma is doing everything they can to stop it from happening. Since the administration of George W. Bush, Medicare has been at the mercy of Big Pharma, obligated under the law to accept whatever prices Big Pharma set for prescription medications. That’s right, every other insurer in the country was able to negotiate drug prices, but Medicare was barred by law from the negotiating table. Now, even though President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act already limits the number of medications actually subject to these new price negotiations, Big Pharma is fighting to stop even that. They don’t want any limitations whatsoever applied to their limitless money spigot and appetite for corporate greed. It’s time they faced public pressure to stop. Click ‘START WRITING’ sign and send a direct message to the CEO’s of Merck, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, and the lobbying group PhRMA demanding they drop their lawsuits, and negotiate drug prices with Medicare now.
