Trump's "AI-first" military¹ could allow a lethal autonomous drone to decide where and when to drop a bomb. An AI-equipped autonomous weapon could easily misidentify a civilian as a soldier, or a family vehicle as a military vehicle, then kill innocent people in droves.² Lethal autonomous weapons could even end up in our communities for domestic surveillance and policing. The Trump administration is ignoring the red flags and could hand deadly decision-making over to an algorithm. AI's inaccurate, sloppy, unpredictable tech has no place in decisions about using deadly force. Congress must see the real, acute dangers of AI autonomous weapons and take action to ban them.
