Tell Congress: Pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act Now

North America is facing an unprecedented biodiversity crisis, with almost 1,600 species already listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. In fact, nearly one-third of all wildlife species in the U.S. currently face an elevated risk of extinction. Unless we take urgent action, we risk losing our treasured wildlife heritage -- from backyard birds to bighorn sheep. We have a moral obligation to act in order to protect and recover wildlife for future generations. Fortunately, protecting our nation’s vast and diverse wildlife doesn’t have to be a partisan issue in Washington D.C. The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (RAWA) doesn’t just have the support of over 60 Tribes and 1,500 organizations representing state fish and wildlife agencies, conservation groups, and industry associations and businesses -- it has bipartisan support in Congress. The importance of the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act is hard to overstate. Highlights include: Specifically providing Tribal nations $97.5 million annually to fund proactive wildlife conservation efforts on roughly 140 million acres of land. Funding conservation efforts for more than 12,000 species of wildlife and plants in need of assistance by providing in total $1.4 billion in dedicated annual funding for proactive, on-the-ground efforts across the country. Accelerating the recovery of approximately 1,600 U.S. species already listed as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act. Including improvements to ensure funds are appropriately targeted to the areas of greatest need and facilitate additional investments in protecting at-risk plant species as well. We urgently need to save thousands of species with a solution that matches the magnitude of the challenge. Our grandchildren and their grandchildren -- generation to generation -- must be able to experience the same rich and abundant wildlife, from bumblebees to bison, that we have been so lucky to live in harmony with since time immemorial. Please click ‘START WRITING’ to sign and send a direct message urging your U.S. Senators to co-sponsor and pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act now.
