But those in power are spewing disinformation about the Endangered Species Act while they push their agenda to erase any oversight of industry activity. Donald Trump’s "energy emergency" is just that - disinformation. Under this ruse, he has set up an “Extinction Committee,” officially known as an Endangered Species Committee, to determine the fate of endangered species. By granting exemptions for big industries that funded his campaign, Trump is positioning this Extinction Committee as a group of "grim reapers" for endangered species, deciding which species may live and which may die. Some in Congress are also using the “energy emergency” ruse to justify legislative attacks on the Endangered Species Act. They want to rewrite the law to make industry interests a deciding factor on whether a species and its habitat are protected. The protection of our nation's wildlife should not be sacrificed for short-term economic gains by grim reapers on an Extinction Committee. And we certainly can’t let Congress tear apart the Endangered Species Act.
