Tell Congress to Put Families Before Trump’s Pet Projects

	<thumbnail_url>https://actionnetwork.org//images/generic_facebook.jpg</thumbnail_url>

Working families are struggling to afford groceries, housing, healthcare, and gas. Donald Trump is focused on a White House ballroom, a new helipad, a giant triumphal arch, a multimillion-dollar Reflecting Pool renovation, a UFC fight at the White House, and an IndyCar race through Washington, D.C. That tells us exactly whose priorities are running Washington. Trump and congressional Republicans already passed a tax-and-budget law that cuts Medicaid and SNAP while handing the richest 1% an estimated $117 billion in tax breaks this year alone. They tell families there is less money for healthcare and food assistance while finding plenty for billionaire tax breaks and Trump’s vanity agenda. The same neglect is showing up in food safety. The FDA workforce has fallen sharply, foreign food-facility inspections have declined, and this summer has brought repeated warnings and recalls involving everyday foods. One Cyclospora outbreak linked to iceberg lettuce has already sickened more than 10,000 people, hospitalized hundreds, and killed 2 people. Protecting families from contaminated food should rank higher than building monuments to Donald Trump. This is what happens when billionaires set the priorities. America’s billionaires now control more than $9 trillion in wealth, while families are constantly told to accept cuts to critical programs, higher costs on everyday necessities, and weaker public services. Tell Congress to reprioritize our families and communities. Protect Medicaid and SNAP, strengthen food safety, reject wasteful spending on Trump’s vanity projects, and make billionaires and wealthy corporations pay their fair share.
