Tell Florida Legislators: Protect Our Right to Vote and Oppose HB 991/SB 1334

In the Florida Legislature, House Bill 991/Senate Bill 1334, if passed, would purge thousands of U.S. Citizens in Florida from the voting rolls. The bills require that all voters’ citizenship status is re-verified via an error-prone government database. If your certification is rejected, you’ll need to submit proof of citizenship with a passport or birth certificate, to retain your right to vote. It is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in Florida, and the consequences of doing so are harsh. That is not what these bills are really about. This is about making voting harder for Floridians and thus harder for us to hold elected officials accountable. Most impacted would be lower-income Floridians, students and young people, seniors, naturalized citizens, and women voters whose last names have changed. These bills are a direct attack on our democracy and are moving quickly in both legislative chambers. To send a letter to your lawmakers, click the blue "Start Writing" button and you will then see the sample letter. You can send as is or edit and send.
