During a period of funding cuts, visa revocations, and threats of deportation for graduate student workers, this carveout strips these student workers of all union protections: healthcare reimbursements, childcare funds, international student worker assistance, emergency grants, collective bargaining rights to advocate for higher pay, legal defense, and protections against harassment, overwork, and arbitrary dismissal. Harvard is weaponizing the current political moment against student workers.
