JewishColumbus's statement claims that Imam Dobal was “calling for the extermination of those who support Israel’s right to exist.” At no point in Imam Dobal’s sermon—or in the closing prayer that was mistranslated—did he make such a statement. Such false claims and selective use of mistranslation of Arabic was taken entirely out of context. Despite this, Governor Mike DeWine and Congresswoman Joyce Beatty issued statements standing with JewishColumbus without verifying the accuracy of the claims or reaching out to NICC. Our elected officials must lead with truth, justice, and accountability not misinformation and fear.
