On February 5th, two young horses—5-year-old Ritaan and 4-year-old Sudoku Terry—died at Parx Racing. Ritaan, according to the race chart, was “squeezed between rivals early and fell, causing catastrophic injury and was subsequently euthanized.” This is not an isolated incident—Pennsylvania racetracks average 90 dead horses every year.
